The development of smart applications will pose a number of new requirements on the underlying standardisation process.
Perhaps most notably, these include co-operation between hitherto distinct entities, the involvement of a variety of exotic
(by ICT standards) stakeholders and the adoption of a responsible standards setting process. The paper discusses these
